Beautiful Dancing
I was very excited when Robyn called me today to tell me that she had been watching You Tube videos of the dance routines from the past two weeks of So You Think You Can Dance. We are fanatics and have been getting together every week to watch the results show. Before we watch it [...]

Paintings for your Floors
My friend Callahan McDonough is another one of the multi-talented women in my life. She is a great artist, a dynamic therapist and the best garage sale hound I know. She is the big sister I never had and she bosses me around like one.

My Friend, My Canon Powershot
Alicia Paulson confirmed my opinion that you can’t beat the little Canon Powershot camera for most purposes unless you need to shoot very large format or are a bona fide photographer and still she likes her Canon best. Fortunately Alicia has a blog, , that is full of t tips on how to get [...]

Eames Stamps at the USPO
Eames stamps are now available at the Post Office. I don’t know why I am so excited. I rarely write letters so mostly I put wonderful stamps on my bills and such. I really hope that someone appreciates them as much as I do sending them. I guess really all that matters is that it makes me smile on my way to the mailbox.

Imaginary Friend or Long Lost Brother ?
Eric is one of Duane and my Tango “litter mates”. We started taking tango lessons at the same time and have gotten to be good friends over this past year. When we went to Argentina this Spring we shared an apartment with Eric and had a great time together. From the first time Eric met Duane, he told us that Duane had a look alike named Myles, an artist friend of his from Nashville. Eric would tell tales of Myles escapades and make Myles seem fabulous and larger than life.

Maureen’s Kitchen
Years ago, and I mean years ago, when our kids were around 4 or 5years old ( and now are in their twenties) , I met Maureen who was a good friend of my old friend, and I mean old, friend Claudia’s. (just kidding Claudia…). So fast forward to 2008 when Maureen responded to an e-mail I sent out about a vent hood that I had for sale. In our conversation she told me she wanted to redo their kitchen but someone told her it would be 60,000 and so she was going to have to wait a while.

How to Design Studio Space
![]()
When I design a space, I start with a concept based on what the space is and what the owner wants. After getting a little idea of the direction of the design, I need to find that perfect piece to build the design around.
My sister Mary, bought a building several months ago for her studio and now that the tenants moved out Mary is ready to get her business moved in.
The building is a rather nondescript warehouse space that was built in the sixties, but is somehow cool. While Grant and I were doing the Danneman’s build out and design, he kept talking about wanting to do a primitive and modern shop. That stuck with me and so that is kind of what I had in mind for Mary’s space.

Tango the Night Away
Last night there was the Bario Norte Milonga in Sandy Springs, put on by Lynda and Rick Wilson. I really wanted to go tonight since Duane and I had not been making it out to Sandy Springs to Rick and Lynda’s class on Monday nights for the past two months. They are fantastic teachers; really good at showing you the technical details of each move. Problem is that Sandy Springs is 35 miniutes away from where we live. Once summer came, gas prices rose and we got lazy we started to go to Decatur to Horacio’s class (only five minutes away) on Tuesday instead. Horacio doesn’t give a whole lot of instruction but Duane and I knew the steps we just needed to be comfortable dancing them. And in Horacio’s class we dance and dance and dance. It was just what the doctor ordered.

How to Develop a Logo in Two Days
Grant and I had only two weeks to get the Danneman’s Coffee shop styled before they were planning to be opened and we had a very limited budget. No time or money to hire a graphic designer so I had to work up a logo for Danneman’s so we could get a sign painted on the building and order a series of stick on letters to put across the store windows.
