Kitchen Punchlist Countdown

Posted September 4th, 2008 by Judi

It won’t be long now. Maureen’s kitchen is almost finished. We got the hood hung back up today at a height that won’t poke Ray’s eyes out, finished putting the light rail up, trimmed out the microwave shelf, adjusted cabinets, ordered the thresholds from the tile floor to the wood floor, had the Corian people come out and fix the countertop where they had cut the hole too big for the range (their mistake). It’s a good thing it was Corian and not granite since they were able to just melt up some more material and meld it together. Volia, like magic it was fixed.

Maureen’s son Matthew is doing a great job tiling the floor and the backsplash. I think he is finishing up the backsplash tonight. It looks fantastic. We used a mix of 1×3 glass mosaic tiles that I got on-line from Susan Jablon. You can actually design your own tile blend which is fun. They have beautiful tile to work with.

I took these new pictures today. Excuse the construction dust. It’s still not the final product, but we’re almost there. I know the Nolans will be glad to get their house back to themselves and be able to use their new kitchen. I was sitting there today admiring it, especially how all of the colors work together. I hear that Maureen’s daughter is not fond of the yellowy green in the kitchen. Actually, I heard that she hated it. I told Maureen to tell her to go paint her own kitchen ( just kidding Ellie)! I hope Ellie will like it now that everything is coming together, including the curtains I made from a coverlet from Urban Outfitter with birds in cages. I think the whole thing looks swell. If I do say so myself.
