Craig the Basset Hound ate 20 Dates Stuffed with Coconut and Rolled in Sugar

No Craig didn't actually roll in sugar, but he did eat the dates stuffed with a nut and coconut which were rolled in powdered sugar. I was kind of worried since I was having a party that night and expected a gigantic stomach ache at the least. But no he seemed fine. People didn't know that even though Craig is very short, he is very long and therefore could get up to the table and help himself. Thank goodness my husband saw him before he started on the second plate.

Using Social Marketing to Job hunt

I like this idea, great social marketing. Rebecca Keegan is fresh,funny and unemployed. She is the former Hollywood corespondent for Time Magazine and now, since she lost that plum job, she is going around Hollywood being filmed doing interviews with interesting people with whom she might get a job. See her interview of Watchman Director Zach Snyder. I know about Rebecca through her husband Marty Keegan (at the end of the video, her is the guy on the couch playing at playing the guitar). Marty stayed here with us in Atlanta, at the Urban Oasis Bed and Breakfast, while his short film, Verboten, was in the film competition at Dragon Con. He didn't know before he scheduled a five day stay , what Dragon Con was exactly, so when he found out, he spent a lot of time hanging out with me. It was great to have Marty here as a guest, since Duane was out of town for three weeks setting up the Republican convention. I was really glad he turned out not to be one of those pale, paunchy guys that dress up like Darth Vader, and have never had a date. His film won an award too.

I have been hounding people in my life to get on Facebook. It is just so much easier than to have to keep people updated by e-mail. But then there is also Twitter. It is even harder to explain. Furminator Deals with Effects of Global Warming

What I want to know is why is my dog shedding like crazy the week before Christmas? Is this a side effect of global warming? There are huge puff balls of hair floating around the house two hours after vacuuming. At least only one of the three Bassets is such a fur burger. This afternoon in preparation for the holidays, I decided to get out the Furminator. I was wearing black fleece pants and a fleece vest and I have to say that was not the best furminating outfit. Like the picture portrays, I filled up an entire garbage bag with dog hair but I had been sitting on the ground so when I got up I was covered in hair. Not just a little hair but more like a heavy layer of fur all over my clothes. Duane had to vacuum me off before I could put my clothes in the washer. I have vacuumed the dog before but I have yet to put him in the washer.

said Mary Sweeney. In 2006, Mary stumbled upon a stash of forsaken wool sweaters in a local thrift store, and visions of pretty ponchos for her three year old daughter danced in her head. It seemed to Mary that these forlorn wool sweaters could be rescued and repurposed into stylish, durable fashions for kids. A marathon runner who back in the day, qualified for Olympic Trials. Mary was not running quite as much and when she got this inspiration she sprinted into inspired motion and started cutting and stitching. Other moms started asking Mary to make these lovingly handcrafted ponchos for their daughters and Felted Heart was born.

This was one of my better finds. Sam Crawford was moving his video production studio, Mamarama, from 130 Krog Street to LA last month. I bought a couple of big items from him for Mary's studio while he was moving out. When I came to get my things from his office, Sam pulled out a large box and gave it to me and said you can have this wooden model, I have never put even put her together. He said, your sister can have her if whenever she sees her she sends good thoughts to my for my company. Friday afternoon when I went to the Felted Heart studio, Mark, Mary and Sean had put her together as a surprise for me. It made me smile. Mary's husband, John, named her Eileen because she does.

Mark Needelman, The Art of Construction

Mark Needelman is an artist first and a construction person only by happenstance since he really is an artist in everything he does and he one of those people who can do anything ( welds, sews, makes airplanes, fixes cars, does concrete sculptures, dances, does CPR on people choking in restaurants, listens carefully). I have had the pleasure of working with him on Mary Sweeney's Felted Heart studio. It was a dumpy little cinderblock cave and together we transformed it into a wonderful work space in the 658 Studios on Angier Avenue.

American Goldfinch

I thought I saw a canary sitting on my fence but I looked it up and saw that it was a mating American Goldfinch. Sometimes they are called a wild canary. Whatever it is called it was quite beautiful. The male is all bright yellow in the summer when he is mating the rest of the year he is more drab in color like the females.

The boys are all suited up but won't be running the Peachtree Road Race tomorrow. I had to break it to them tonight that it was a no go. But they felt better knowing we will be going to the Mountains for a few days. That will make it up to them. I just hope Clifford doesn't get carsick.

Eric is one of Duane and my Tango "litter mates". We started taking tango lessons at the same time and have gotten to be good friends over this past year. When we went to Argentina this Spring we shared an apartment with Eric and had a great time together. From the first time Eric met Duane, he told us that Duane had a look alike named Myles, an artist friend of his from Nashville. Eric would tell tales of Myles escapades and make Myles seem fabulous and larger than life.

Danneman's is now painted and the old furniture has been purchased by Bobby at the Pizza place down the street, so it is mostly cleaned out. Grant and I started bringing in and arranging all of our treasures . It's pretty funny that we are both obsessed in the same way. We arrange things and then have to stand around and admire it. We even went back over there tonight. I had gone to Home Depot and bought two palms for either side of the front door. Grant met me over at the building to help me get them out of the car and bring them inside. But truth be told, we both just wanted to see how it looked at night and congratulate each other on how great it's looking.
