Do you need a last minute gift? These dish towels are beautiful and come in a set of three for 24.00. I happen to love this set that Judy Clements bought for her newly renovated kitchen but they also come in several other color ways.

I went to Anthropologie the other day but there were so many things I loved that I came down with a bad case of shoppers paralysis. You may find me there the day after Christmas.

Don't lay around and miss it because this weekend is your big opportunity to visit the lair of the Grant Henry at Sister Louisa's Art Gallery in the Church of the Living Room. Did you know this man has over 52 winter coats? How about his 106 pair shoe collection?

I tracked them down these little honeys and will share these great little gadgets with you. But Shhhh... I am buying three of them; one pink, one red and one blue. They are 3 inches by 1 inch, do not need batteries since they are powered by the I-pod and they are actually a little speaker. I have to admit it, I am a color freak. My dirty little secret is that I have over one hundred cans of paint in my garage and that is one hundred, after I recently weeded out the empty dried up cans. So you see, of course I would have had to fall in love with Pantone dishes when I first saw them a couple of years ago at the Fishes Eddy store in New York City. The set at Fishes Eddy did not have mugs, only cups and saucers. But now, I just came across this set of ten mugs for 125.00 from Delight.com, and I am salivating. These mugs,

1) Fresh frozen Salmon fillets,
2) Fresh frozen Whole Salmon fillets,
3) Fresh Smoked and frozen salmon fillets.

Okay people today is your last chance to get your wild Alaska Sockeye Salmon. Come to the alley behind Joe's Loft (corner of Boulevard and Irwin, on the Irwin side near the dumpster) from 3:00 - 8:00 PM and bring cash, checks or charge cards. Joe's buddy, Tony the Fish Boy, is back in town from Alaska with his delightful girlfriend Heather, two German Short Hair Pointers and a trailer full of fresh frozen Salmon that he caught himself in Alaska this past season. Tony sells wholesale to fancy schmancy restaurants and groceries, but he always stops twice a year in Atlanta, to see his pal Joe and keeps all of Joe's friends and neighbors in Salmon. And as Tony says,

I have to admit I am a "fairweather" gardener. I do the minimum I can during the summer when the heat and the mosquitoes drive me insane but come fall or spring I get back out there. Yesterday, Duane and I took my at least once a season trip out to Lawrenceville to Randy's Perennials and Water Gardens to check out his unusual selection of plants. Randy has the best palms, cacti, agaves and succulents as well as a huge selection of perrenials that you probably won't find at your Home Depot garden center. I got some beautiful Mexican Sage while I was there which I have a hard time finding anywhere around town.

Joe's friend Tony is a commercial fisherman in Alaska and he is coming to visit again bringing the finest wild salmon you can buy. Tony will be at Joe's loft in the Old Fourth Ward for three days starting Tuesday, September 30th with about 2000 pounds of wild sockeye salmon! He has salmon that was really fresh and flash frozen both filets and steaks, and Tony does a really great smoked salmon. Sometimes he also has crab legs and shrimp. Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you his way.

My friend Robyn just called with sad news that her good friend Lynn's brother just died from a very quick bout of cancer. Robyn had been to my Dad's funeral and called me to find out where we got his casket.

You see when my Dad died was dying he was worried about spending too much for his funeral. One of my sisters and I went to the local funeral home to see about making arrangements and we hated the casket selection. They had aluminum looking metal ones in various colors, that looked like space capsules and were just awful. The wood ones in addition to being really expensive appeared to have the same shiny finish as a Haverty's dining room suite. And the interiors were made from cheap shiny fabric you'd see on the Adams family.

Mickey Young is a maniac. He had the great idea of saving money on grass fed organic beef by buying a cow. So he talked me into this scheme. It sounded like a good idea, and we bought a standing freezer to share. Then we had to wait for our steer to be ready. We named him Hank. Hank was ready last week and we got him yesterday. But Mickey decide that since this farmer would not have any more steers ready until next Spring, that maybe he should go ahead and buy a half of another steer. SO he drives up yesterday with 12 large packing boxes full of frozen cow, in a zip car. We were sweating it that it would all fit in the freezer. But by hook and by crook (and some packing genius) we got Hank and half of his buddy in there tight.

Busy rainy day. I had to go to Ikea to pick up a few more cabinet knobs for Maureen's kitchen, which BTW, is almost finished ( pictures to come soon). While I was there, I checked out their farm sinks to possibly go in a fun cottage kitchen that I am doing in Inman Park. This sink is the cats pajamas, in both looks and price. Have you noticed that it doesn't usually happen like that? Whatever looks good, even if it is the simpler thing, is usually more expensive. But not the Ikea Domsjo Farm Sink It is 36" wide with double basins maybe 8 or 9" deep and the flat drain part behind the sink is fluted. It looks fabulous and it is a bargain at $299.00. They also have a 24" farm sink but it doesn't have that great fluted part.

Mary's Felted Heart Business is ready to roll in the 658 Studio building on Angier Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward. She shares her space with Emile, a soap maker whose business is called "Mama". It is a really great idea to share space with a soap maker because it smells divine in there! Last time I was there to drop off a few more decorative elements, Emile had just whipped up a tray of lemon soap and it had so much lemon zest in it that it looked kind of hairy which sounds bad but was really nice. MMMmmm...

As I was walking to my car with a basket full of construction goodies, my gallon of turquoise paint somehow escaped from the cart and exploded in the parking lot. The miracle was that I got one drop on my shoe and that was it. The gods were smiling on me.

Danneman's is now painted and the old furniture has been purchased by Bobby at the Pizza place down the street, so it is mostly cleaned out. Grant and I started bringing in and arranging all of our treasures . It's pretty funny that we are both obsessed in the same way. We arrange things and then have to stand around and admire it. We even went back over there tonight. I had gone to Home Depot and bought two palms for either side of the front door. Grant met me over at the building to help me get them out of the car and bring them inside. But truth be told, we both just wanted to see how it looked at night and congratulate each other on how great it's looking.

I got my love letters from Grant as part of his great mid-century modern, craigslist jackpot sale last month. Joe said that he could've whipped them up for me with a saw, in an afternoon. p'shaw...I did just find a great store, Timeless Treasures in San Francisco that specializes in antique letters.

After Michael and I got gas and were on our way we passed by a sign for Pinot Noir Grapes. Before I had left Atlanta, Horacio our Argentine, Tango instructor and wine connoisseur was waxing on about Oregon Pinot Noir so we pulled into the little Wy'East winery and had a wine tasting. Well I say we, but really Michael watched me taste the wine since he isn't 21 quite yet. I bought Horacio a bottle of the good stuff, the one that was made from the grapes of the old vines.

It has really gone way too far when TJ Max has a bunch of Ed hardy Tee Shirts on sale for ten dollars and then Dillards has an over the top display of three hundred dollar Ed Hardy Handbags. Now the thing is, I like Ed Hardy and I love his designs but when it comes to the point that women from the burbs are buying three hundred dollar handbags, I'm done. It's just lost its itsness.
