Tired of the gloomy, damp and cold, feeling landlocked and cooped up with the winter blues? How about a great little getaway with a front row seat on the Gulf of Mexico?
Duane and I have just finished rebuilding Southern Breeze #4 which was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan back in 2004. Well don’t feel too bad. Since it was completely gone, not even a stick left, we got to design and rebuild it from scratch and frankly the first Southern Breeze building was no great shakes. Scott Holland ,of Heffernan, Holland and Morgan in Pensacola, did a great job with the design, especially when you consider that we had to get seven small town homes in an elevated building with a footprint 92 feet long and 30 feet deep.
The units are wonderful. They are soundproof and you feel a bit like you are in a large yacht rather than a small town home. Our unit which we refer to as, “Cool as Can Be”, is decorated in retro beach. We have a marlin over the couch, a boomerang coffee table and some Heywood Wakefield pieces.
There is a lot of bamboo and some grass cloth and retro tiles in the modern maple kitchen.
The upstairs is a real sanctuary. You can watch the sunrise from the, oh so comfy king bed with lots of pillows and linens that are top notch
The bathroom is very serene with white walls and white tiled floors, and sea glass colored mosaics on the shower walls with frameless shower doors.
It is perfect for a couple or if you have two good friends or a couple of children there is a nice double sleeper sofa in the living room. So if you’d like to reserve a space in the sun, Navarre Properties handles the rentals for us and you can make you reservations on-line (go to the section on town homes and ours is Southern Breeze #4).
