Blogging with Moxie*!
This is my first post, well really my second post because I screwed up and overwrote some files so I had to write the first post a second time… I know it confuses me too. And I was feeling so good about finally getting this blog set up. I have wanted to do a blog for a long time but just didn’t get around to it. Partly because I didn’t want to go to blogger and do it the simple way. Noooo. I wanted to get my own domain and hosting site and blog software. But all that is tres difficult for a non geek. There are a million decisions to make and then you have to get it all working together.
I am pleased to say that I finally had gotten to that point, however It all fell apart when I tried to change the theme of the blog and use by own header that I rearranged from a logo my friend Christine Macmahan made for me. When the whole thing broke I found a great service on the WordPress forum that has these angels who volunteer to install the WordPress software for us newbies. One fine man names “Shadow” reinstalled my WordPress for me and now I am back up and running – but still without my customized template… that will be my next hurdle!
I have to give a plug for a great book that helped me get started called “It girl’s guide to Bogging with Moxie” by Joelle Reeder and Katherine Scoleri. I picked it up off a bookshelf full of boring technical manuals because it was pink. And because it was pink I thought it might be vapid dribble. But it was just what I needed to get the real deal going on.
I just wish the Moxie Girls had a 911 number for emergencies or at least had the second volume released on now what do I do and how to deal with files and templates!
Keep in touch and we’ll see how long it takes me to figure out the next steps in my blog. I think learning new things is essential to staying young ( I don’t feel 54) whether it be Web 2.0 or Tango – but damn, I hate being a beginner!
