I got me some WordPress Upgrade Blues
First they let you know that there is a new upgrade. The write up is enticing in that it promises that THIS version will fix so many little things that have been driving everyone crazy. So I get reeled in. I kind of remember how much of a pain in the ass it was last time i upgraded the software.
Lets see oh yeah, back then I got the upgrade to work after three hours problem was that afterwards the photos and videos would not work. Great… It took me two weeks to find a work around for that.
I had kind of forgotten the pain of it and started looked at the three step upgrade instructions. The third step is to do something nice for yourself to reward yourself for doing the upgrade. Only that’s not how it worked. After step two I was getting Fatal Language Errors and the directions said if that happens you have to go directly to do the Eight Step Upgrade. Yikes.
I started this whole process at 3:30 this afternoon when I should have been balancing three months of bank statements. It is now 9:30 and I finally have it working again. That is no thanks to my own work. Well I actually did get close but it took a kind WordPress genius to jump in and save me and my blog. Altogether my tech angel person and I did about a 96 step Upgrade since we must have done the Eight Step Upgrade about twelve times. I sent my genius lady some PayPal luv and she is now going out for a Chinese Buffet. God bless her.
